    exhaust CFM help pretty please

NEED WEE BIT OF HELP!Hello from Memphis guys, just got accepted into the forum, new to indoor growing, looking for advice, help or plain pointers for a quality, reasonably priced exaust fan. I'm using cfl's but have many. Tent size is
24×48×60 temps get high if I don't unzip half the roof and use a box fan to pull out the hot air.thats my exhaust fan right now,so needing a fan that's gonna be efficient enough to handle a 400 or 600 watt light when I upgrade soon.& just 1 more thing haha, advice for which size light to look into for taking about 3 plants veg to flower with my size tent?would a 400 be fine or would I have to go with a 600w? I really am gratefull to any who read this and can help me out. Journal and pics coming soon (currently on 1st indoor grow 3 1/2 weeks into flower using 300 watt of cfl/ unknown strain, topped & did LST and now can't imagine growing untrained, but unfortunately had a run in w WPM so went w SM-90, all thanks to GWE! great advice & knowledge. But yea, man thanks so much for the time)

    Welcome to the forum ColaCola.,
so for the tent size.you have now 400w is as big as I would go. A 600w light would be more suited for a 4x4 footprint. Maybe look in to CMH or LEC 315, 615.
Most of the 6" inline extraction fans rate at around 400 cfm will be more then enough for your tent size.

Howdy ColaCola, and welcome to the forum. As far as the lights, I have read that anywhere from 115 watts to 150 watts per plant is recommended. My grow is two 10 gallon reservoirs with 220 watts CFLs over each reservoir. My last grow (four plants) yielded just under 8 ounces of bud. Your tent has 40 cubic feet of volume so a 400 CFM fan would change out the air 10 times per minuet. Make sure that there is sufficient area for intake air to prevent too high of a velocity (or that it sucks in the sides! LOL!!). My grow area is a walk-in closet (6 ft wide x 2 ft deep x 8 ft tall) with bi-fold doors. I keep the doors open about 6 inches and there is a 6 inch Dura Breeze fan at the top (2 speed) for venting out the hot air.

        Welcome CC..

I run 2 tents exactly the same size as yours.1 for Veg and 1 for Flower. (2) 600w LEDs in the flower tent, (1) 300w LED in the veg. Keep in mind these are LED's not HID's, no way I could run a 600w HID in the little tent

In the flower tent I have a little 4" inline fan and carbon filter kit from amazon, something around 200CFM. Works amazingly good, no heat issues and lot's of negative pressure inside the tent. So as DW2 said, make sure to have another vent hole open for air intake. I use some 4" aluminum dryer ducting for the intake with a nylon stocking (panty hose) over the end to filter out junk from getting sucked into tent.

I run a 600 watt HID 24/7 in my small tent no heat trouble at all. My tent is 2 foot by 4 foot inside tent temp. when running the HID 68 above. My fan is 8 inches it is rated at 747 cfm.

Are you running am exhaust light hood? After my post I started thinking about that possibility being viable. HID's I have ran before where some hot tamales with out it.

Thanks guys, so my wife found these two 6 inch, may be duct fans but for claiming 260 cfm and the price def sounds like a deal. Thinking one for in & 1 for out. Here's the link, check them out before they're gone. May build me a diy carbon filter

Sockfilter yea think I'd have to agree now that I think about it, need that extra horse power aka torque for a filter. But that's a good find, I've wondered about VIVOSUN fans & lights.been skeptical.guess when it comes down to it after all the researching just have to find out. May be sending the ones just ordered back. Yea cuz they're just really made to boost the air & keep it going, not really to get that negative pressure we need

I have a little 4" vivosun inline filter and it works flawless in my 2x4 tent. As a matter of fact I am about to daisy chain (2) 2x4 tents together (exhaust wise) to run through it, veg first then flower tent. Well that is how I have it in my mind. May have to make some modifications, however I am sure that little vivosun will work just fine.
