    What do I really need?

So I am greeting my dwc tent set up. First time going from soil to hydro. I’m just wondering what other nutrients do I really need besides the GH trio and the aqua shield for my roots? I see people mentioning Cali+mag I thought the Trio had everything I need? Also I have a free sample of advanced nutrients I got at the local hydro shop but this was a while back and I remember being told that those three bottles was all I needed to get thru an entire grow.. anyone have experience with these bottles? Should I just go with the Trio? Which is what I will do most likely I just fuigured they’re free why not try it but if it’s more complicated than GH Trio I rather not bother. Also I plan on a top drop for the first weeks as recommended by GWE do all my hoses need to be dark or can they be clear? I doing 10 gallon tote pretty much following Sirius and Nebulas tutorial?

No idea about your nutes or adding calmag. Hoses should be black but you can get away with clear, tho not recommended.

    Happy growing.

If using RO etc. then Cal-Mag is necessary. If using Tap, you should be ok but it really depends on your local water supply. You could always add it at min strength and see if you need to go up or down.

Add Cal-Mag first, even before Micro. C/M> Micro> Grow/Bloom. If you go with the Silica product it goes in before the Cal-Mag.

Thanks guys.. was wondering do I really need a ppm reader or pen..? Is it really necessary? I don’t see much talk on that subject here just wondering because I read Sirius tutorial and he recommends a ppm pen.. I’m going to get one but just want to know what experienced dwc growers think about a ppm reader..

I paid $13 or so for my PPM pen. Use it for testing my tap water and for feeding my plants. Even some powdered nutes for soil will give feeding schedules in PPMs. Seems kinda like a must for DWC. New grower here. Just my opinion.
