Nebula: It was that page that got me interested in actually growing Autos. I have read a lot of posts over many forums on the subject since first reading your page. I am kind of a research geek. Thanks

It seems that given the time restraint of autos, that once seed has outgrown solo cup, should go right into final container. No extra transfers. Or should sprouted seed just go in final container and skip the solo cup?

Not sure why people even bother with transplanting...I plant seeds and rooted clones right in their death pots.

            Never once had a problem...ever

Easy not to over water...and that is the only concern

Of course I'm in coco loco...not hydro

Green75, I guess there are pros and cons to starting from onset in final container versus several transplants. Certainly would be less work.

For us, one reason for the transplanting is that we start seedlings and grow through vegetation in our basement. We go from to solo cup to 2 gal bucket to finish veg cycle. We then do the final transfer in 5 gal buckets upstairs in the garage which is where the grow tent is. Give them a few more days of veg in new container and then switch to 12/12.

I am going to do it differently with the autos.

Yes, transplanting has its pros and cons. If you start your plant in a small container like a solo cup they grow faster at first. If you transplant them carefully, and before they outgrow their pot, they'll just plain grow faster than if you start them in their final container. But if you're transplanting there's a lot more that can go wrong! If your plant overgrows the pot or gets transplant shock you might be going through a lot of trouble for nothing. With autos you have a very tight schedule so not a lot of room for mistakes! When I grew autos I started mine in Rapid Rooters, and then after they germinated I put them straight into 3-gallon pots, which worked great. I think they would also do well being started in a solo cup, especially if you have experience and make sure to transplant before the leaves get wider than the cup, but it might be easier to just start them in their final destination

Agreed! I recently moved an autoflower seedling from 3 inch to 6 inch, then to final pot in a very short time...each time noticing that roots were so close to being cramped. Thinking that I would be better off going in as seed directly to final pot (even though I'm a very careful transplanter). Cheers! 🌞

Indoor autos can be great. Theyre best used (imo) outdoors b4 the choppers run lol.

Im in the UK and forced to grow Autos between September and May, its too cold to have the lights off for 12 hours where my tent is, so I leave the lights on 24/7.

Based on time and efficiency and space - I am going to attempt to focus on mainly Auto variety in the future. Im going to keep and clone some specific breeds that I enjoy that arent, but those will be more of projects as opposed to churning buds month after month. If the light cycle stays relatively the same, one could start autos in the clone / mother tent- and after a month, toss them in the flowering tent with the other autos at different phases of growth. So at all times, a steady rotation of ones coming up for harv, and ones going in, etc. Now I wish I could speed up time
