    Defoilation or lst

First time growing and it's an auto. On both of my plants I want to expose two growth nodes to more light I really want to pluck the leaves. For now I tucked them under bigger fan leaves but I want opinions on what would be better to do.

You can "prune" your plant and take off those fan leaves that are blocking the light - usually "defoliation" (heavy) is done in week 4 of vegation and week 4 of flower . For now just remove the two bottom fan leaves and possibly the second set - no more. Lst is a method one can use all thru grow with defoliation. Is the plant an auto?

Yeah it's an auto that's why I'm so hesitant to do anything to them.

Defoliation can be done throughout your whole grow...
Don't matter what week it is...

DO NOT use extreme defoliation on an auto. It may not have time to recover. I would however pluck a big fan leaf that is blocking a potential bud site. Very light pruining and LST is best for an auto.

Thanks for commenting on this_ I grew three autos for part of my last grow and was very careful-probably too careful, and have been wondering how much stress I can put an auto through to get more colas? My experience has been with photoperiods mostly.
Do you think I could get away FIMing an auto if done around the time it gets a fourth node? Then doing just LST and light pruning afterwards. That way I could get a more symmetrical plant to work from with LST afterwards...I did this with one plant before by mistake and it turned out ok, but then I backed off on the LST being wary after reading I shouldn't have done that! I'm thinking of using two auto strains that have 70-80 day seed to flower finishing times, to hopefully have a little extra time for the FIM to heal before it goes into fllower mode...suggestions appreciated!

      agree one usually doesn't "defoliate " auto's

Let it grow a little bit more, maybe another week, then bend it over and tie it down! It will create a new top or two. Its amazing what these plants will do.

Looks too early to be plucking many leaves on an auto. Topping has worked nicely for my autos in creating a spread of colas, and some LST could help. Good luck! 🌻

Here is an example of an auto defoliated and very aggressive tying down...she is 22 days old...taking full strength nutes and thriving

Well I have decided to not top and to not fimm her....I did however decide to keep her defoliated and to bind the hell out of her. Today was also her third
