If the relative humidity is low in the house or building where Your grow is located, then just increase the air circulation to dissipate the higher humidity in the grow space. I keep a bow fan circulating the air in the room where my grow closet is located and have small fans exhausting the warm humid air from it. I am at mid bloom and the plants are drinking 2 to 2 1/2 gallons per week. The hovers around 50-55% when the ambient RH is up around 35-40% (average RH here is around 25-30%).
      Good luck with Your grow.

Thanks for clarifying that alltatup. I had not used the smaller units before, only the larger models. I agree with you that the price range needs to be upped a bit to get into something that will work well. I had a Soleus Air/Gree 70 pint when I lived down south and it worked like a charm and it had an external hose hook-up so you never had to worry about over filling the reservoir. It's overkill for that size space...probably could use a 30 pint effectively. It's rated to handle moderate humidity for up to 1500 sq.ft.
Finding the right size dehumidifier is dependent on two factors: the capacity of the dehumidifier, and the size of space you will be using it in.

You're welcome, ellz. I'm in the dirty south and when the humidity is at its worst, I empty the reservoir on my dehumidifier twice a day. Mine beeps and just turns off when it's full. When I use it, I stick it in the doorway of my grow room so that the warm air blows out into the hall and not into the room.

That particular model is an 8-ounce (or 0.5 pints) but there is one that around $75 that is a 20-ounce (1.25 pint)version here: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001QTW6KQ?ref=emc_b_5_i

As for placement, humidity neither rises nor falls so placement is not that important. No matter where you place it, it will remove moisture from the air. Ideally, you would place it about 6 inches away on all sides from walls, or other objects so that air flow is not restricted in any way.

Where should I place my dehumidifier?

Proper placement of your dehumidifier is critical for achieving top performance. Most people place dehumidifiers in basements, laundry rooms, crawl spaces, and indoor pool areas since these areas often have moisture problems. However, there are models available to address a variety of moisture issues that can be placed anywhere from single bedrooms to warehouses.

Once you have determined the area that needs dehumidifying, narrow down the specific part of that area where the dehumidifier will physically be placed. Most manufacturers recommend placing your dehumidifier at least six inches away from walls or any other structure that may impede airflow into and out of the dehumidifier. If you must place it close to a wall, consider purchasing a dehumidifier with multiple placement options, such as the Santa Fe Compact Dehumidifier, which allows users to suspend the dehumidifier overhead using the optional Hang Kit.

Just a update i change my box so i needed dehumidifier and i bought a Frigidaire 30 Pint its work very well, but in case you dont know dont put it in your growbox because the air is always come in the box, the best if you can like me i use my old small box and i put it inside so i take my intra from here with air duct, i have 35% with the dehumidifier i and its 42% in my new growbox.
Or if its too warm (because the dehumidifier blows warm air) you can just put in your room with door and windows close.

There is always a chance of getting ripped off whenever you buy something online. With Facebook you're usually getting their real name and it isn't too hard to set up an exchange somewhere public and safe.

Which is why I really appreciate Amazon. Most of the time they have competetive prices and their return policy (within 30 days) is absolutely hassle free.

The question is how often are you wanting to empty the resevoir.

My grow room is 46 sq ft with 8 foot ceilings. Resulting in 336 cubic feet of air. My pssive air intake is from the house a/c system. Secondary intake is on the opposite site of the room at ground level and force fed with a small 4" desk fan (with some creative duct tape).

your space is 8x8x2 at 128 cubic feet. 4 pint may not be enough capacity for your needs.

That was why I suggested the used market. The one I'm picking up Saturday is usually $200+ I'm getting it for half that, and it comes with a port the run to an external drain. I'll never have to empty it. That is of value to me.

I'm not in a hurry, I don't need the extreme humidity control for 6 weeks or so. But I'm getting it set up in advance.

First though I'd get a temp/humidity monitor. The sell em cheap at Walmart. Keep a log of your grow space temp and relative humidity. See how much you'll have to adjust it to keep conditions optimal for your grow
