I bought one from WalMart, in the kichen goods area for about 12 dollars. Electronic with bothe oz. scale and metric. Works for me.
It's not how crazy I am, but how much I enjoy it that makes me dangerous.

Depending on if you are not bothered with replacing batteries once in a while. If you prefer something mechanic to something electronic.

The best I've had is from a brand called "Tanita" and it weighted from 0.03 grams up to 250 grams with 0.01 increments. It was over 100 bucks doh

Good topic. I'll be in the market for one soon. Back in the day I a had a triple beam that measured in grains. Talk about being good at math conversions.

My recommendation is a digital/electronic scale. They have fewer moving mechanical parts, which are generally what cause inaccuracy and failures. Perhaps the most important feature to look for is one which comes with a physical reference weight you can use to check and/or re-calibrate the scale. Without that how confident will you be that it is still within spec one or two years from now? Also be certain it has a 'Tare' function (most digitals do, mechanical scales do not). And know in advance how large the things you need to weigh are and how you will physically put them on the scale platform and not have them shift around. Dealing with a large retail site such as Amazon means you can expect the warranty to be honored if you have problems.

Try to find a unit with one more digit on the display than you think you need. Reading down to 1 gram isn't good enough, 0.1 gram is marginal, but 0.01 gram is probably adequate in practical terms.

Thanks for all the information. Thank Zativa good information. I fish in BASS tournaments and that tare function is real nice ,it adds it all together so you know what your final weight is. Can't seem to find one that has a weight that comes with it to check calibration though , Thanks again

Check it with a weight. I've had absolutely no problems with it.
