I will keep a photo diary and post pictures, i am already learning a lot.

Is using 20 gallon pots over kill? I have read conflicting stories about yield, some are getting 2oz and some are getting 40. My logic is this i from plant size? Considering i will have ample room i figured bigger ws better. If 20 gallons is overkill should i look into 10s?

A 7 gallon pot should be more than big enough. I grew 2 salivas outside in 7 gallon pots and they finished at 7'4" and 6'6" tall. The roots just about filled the pot. 2 cents

I also agree that 20 gallons for an inside grow is also overkill. It is great that you are not that limited by space in regards to plant size , but there is a limit to how big a plant is going to get in an indoor grow. Also the lights only penetrate so many inches down through the canopy so having a 7 ft plant is not going to yield that much more than a 5 foot plant. Also you need to factor in how much time you want the plant to stay in the vegetative phase which will determine height overall. The faster you get to harvest the more frequent you can harvest. It comes down to finding a sweet spot but vegging for an extra 4 - 6 weeks for size just because you can is not going to increase yields enough to off set having fewer harvests at the end of the year. A seven gallon pot should be just fine, but if you really want to be sure 10 gal is more than enough. You will have much more opportunity to increase yields by training your plants. A 3 ft tall manifolded and well trained indoor plant will yield more than a 7 ft untrained indoor plant . If you ever plant Autos then a 3 or 5 gallon pot is enough since those will never get very big. Whatever you decide we all wish you the best of luck. Please keep us updated.

In my humble opinion, as a first time grower, here are the important things to look after

    Primary importance:
    Genetic.
    Light. (amount of, power/intensity/type)
Soil quality. (or hydro, I mean you should take care of nutrients, if growing in soil then a good soil, airy and right pH, right amount of nutes)

    Secondary importance:
pH (that can kill a plant, or at least create trouble. Most common problem with new grower I'd say after lurking a little bit here. We often forget about that one, focusing on other points)
Temp/humidity (Too high temp stress the plant, too low stunt it. Too high humidity and mold may come, too low and it might get stunted (although late flowering is advised to reduce humidity to bolster resin production)

    Tertiary importance:
Wind (will help the plant producing budsites/secondary branches, also strengthen the stalks to better support the weight of the bud. But it shouldn't be able to kill it. Too much wind may stress the plant though, in a bad way! I know some people who were able to grow in a tent, without fan. Had nice results, but he had to help support each branch by tying it to the top of his tent)
... Nothing comes to mind right now, but i'm sure there are plenty. Little bit stoned, might edit this answer later.

I have not much experience, I have just read a lot... Experienced the pH problem as a new grower though! haha.
Inexperienced outdoor grower, near Switzerland. I have some theoretical knowledge and only a little bit of practice, hence take what I say with a grain of salt. Also I believe everyone has his own growing way.

Thanks for all the advice. From what i have been suggested and have read about here is the set up i will be using

          8x8 Gorilla grow tent

2 Platinum p900 lights Do i need special glasses to qork under these?

          6 15 gallon containers

          KindSoil below

          Coco Loco top soil

I plan on germenating using a paper towel and then directly in to the pots they will grow in. Im still up in the air about this. Would like to hear thoughts on this?

I also have regular seeds and auto flowing seed. Not sure what to use. Pretty Hard to mess up auto flower seeds it seems so that might be my first choice. Would like to hear thoughts on this?

Still waiting for a lot of things to be delivered so i still have time to change things. The tent delivery got delayed tell next week.

Hello X what a nice setup, I also went straight to the pot she was going to live in from germination. That's fine ,others go to a Dixie cup till the leaves are even with the cup before transplanting either way will work ,most important things are use water that is the right PH ,and don't overwater the seedlings, and never water to runoff. I sure wish I had your set-up, that's nice man ,especially those powerful lights just be careful with them till you get used to them , shades for your eyes would be good to. Did you talk to Phil Kind? Even if not just follow directions on your soil bags. Brother you are going to have a nice ,fun grow, I can tell you have been doing your research. Good growing man, plenty of help here on GWE. Good luck. PS sounds like funds are not a problem with you ,being your getting so much KindSoil, make sure to get a good PH meter, like a Bluelabs or either find some good bottled water that's already just right ,where I live Wal-Mart's brand is already 6.4 carbon filtered water.

Money is fo sho a problem. If it wasnt id be buying the stuff But i do have a good budget for this, And i figure to do it right from the start. I will be saving a lot of money in the long run.

My thinking on water is to keep 20 gallon container in the room so i always have water avail? Should be easy to keep the Ph levels sound that way? And tempetures? You mentioed walmart water, How much water should i be expecting each plant? i know its going to change and stuff depending on conditions but can you give me a rough guess?

              What glasses do you suggest?

I kept a log on my grow from the start to finish but I watered by the cup so I can't be sure but how many gallons I used in 75 days unless I go back and add it all up but surely 30 or40 gallons I assume. I was growing an auto in a 3 gallon SmartPot .The water was 89 cents a gallon at Wal-Mart, watering from home will save you a little bit too ,but you will need PH meter ,and up an down solution then your choice. Still need a meter. I can't wait for you to get started ,your sure gonna save some cash from not having to buy it , it will be just as good lto or even beter. PS i like that doing it right from the start you are doing it right
