I have a plant (that started to flower) that has a main center cola, but also a few large colas (one is actually taller than the center cola) on the sides.... can I cut these colas off and make them clones? Or can I only clone from small branches? I'm wanting to cut the large side colas because they seem to be drawing all the nutrients from the main cola. I'll try to attach a picture. Any help is greatly appreciated 😊

HI Tattedchik,
Your plant looks good Is she an autoflower or a photoperiod plant?
Is she growing outdoors? Are you in the US? How long has she been flowering?
Typically clones are taken during the vegetative stage of photo plants, before the plant starts to flower.
Clones are the same age as their donors, so your clones will be in early flower too. This is why cloning autos can be dicey.
There is monstercropping ... I've never tried it but ... there's a good write up on GWESand, sea, sun, sausages, and sinsemilla.

Thank you Beach Town Brit! I'm not sure if she is autoflower or not to be honest, I started her from a seed in a bag I was smoking. She is outdoors, in the southern US (relatively hot weather ~80Fs - 90Fs). She started to flower about a month ago... I thought it happened on accident because another one I started from the same batch doesn't look like her at all... the other is very tall (2.5x her size) and just began to flower (very little flowers so far, but definitely a female, just looks taller and less dense). We had a few days a month ago that it was very rainy/ dark so I assumed she thought it was time to start flowering. After the sun came back regularly the side colas began to form and grew much faster than the center cola.
The new colas are outgrowing the main one so I'm just trying to see if it's possible to take them off to make the clones instead of using little new branches.

If you are in the southern US you are getting too much light for a regular or feminized seed to flower. Would lead me to believe that you must have an auto-flower. Never cut autos and never take clones from a plant that is in flower. Extra branchs are a good thing. To answer your question no you can not take clones from an auto flowering plant in flower. You said you had some cloudy rainy days. That would not affect your plants life stages. That is why I said it must be an auto. As for different sizes it could be a different pheno even if it is from the same plant. You should be fine

I think Harry is probably right it's likely to be an auto.
If she is an auto from bagseed there's a chance she was from a hermie (a plant with buds and pollen sacks) so watch out for any sign of male pollen sacks as the hermie trait can be inherited.
There are actually a few people on here that are cloning autos. I think Lucky75 has a video on it but you have to take your cuttings really early, long before it flowers so that the clone still has chance for vegetative growth.
Let those side colas keep growing out they'll deliver some good budSand, sea, sun, sausages, and sinsemilla.

I'm still learning myself. Sometimes it's hard to separate fact from fiction on these learn to grow sites. Sometimes I think people give bad advice on purpose. If your new follow the basics get through your first harvest and tweet your program on your next grow. There is Nebula Haze on this forum. She will not mislead you and will answer any questions you may have she is very knowledgeable. If you do enough research on your question you could make an educated decision for yourself. I had to stop stressing about every little thing. And only then I could really start to enjoy what I was doing. Have fun with it
