Check out my very first grow + Question about second grow :)

    Hello friends!

First of all thanks to groweasy.com and all the people here who helped me a lot to somehow manage my very first grow.
Unfortunately the strain is unknown, friend just gave me 4 regular seeds and only 2 of them turned out to be female.
After huge problems with PH, (at some point I nearly gave up, cause plant looked terrible) I somehow managed to fix it and now it is 28 day of flowering under cfl's and they look healthy and I
    Cant wait to smoke them

Besides Im getting ready for my second grow and now I have Ak-47 seed and before I will do anything just want to make clear some details not to make same mistakes.
    So my question is:

The biggest trouble I had during my first grow was PH. after days and weeks of struggling I found out that tap water in my country has PH 8.0 so after that I was always adding some lemon powder
to lower the PH. So on my second grow Im going to use lemon powder from the very beginning, but Im a little bit afraid if it wont harm seedlings..

    Thanks!

Hi man, unless you give it plain lemon juice that would burn her, she should be fine. Lemon juice will get drowned in the water, no need to add much lemon juice. Enough for the pH to go down. Also let the tap water sit overnight, its full of chlorine and such, that's bad for plants. (rain water is the best, along with well water, or if you can't and have money to spend, bottled water...)
Tap water is fine though, as long as you let it sit overnight!!

High Zaxar , Looks like You did a good job with your plant ,mighty pretty, dark healthy looking green leaves .What did you grow her in ? What kind of nutrients did you use ? In the past I have also used baking soda to raisePH some without damage. PH is very important and you need to get some if you can off of the internet. Good luck. Get some PH up an PH down is what I meant. Sorry

Hey Zax, welcome to the forum and great save on your first grow! You need a good pH meter and pH up and pH down. INDISPENSIBLE for growing cannabis. If you haven't already seen this:

Learn how to use pH pens, which ones we use, and which growers could benefit most from having a pH pen (spoiler: not everyone needs one!).

          Plagiarism :')
I'm having some trouble with my pH meter, I have test strip for water but it doesnt show if the pH is lower than 6... And I have a soil test that doesnt show if the pH is higher than 7. Freaking annoying! I'm scared the pH pen will cost me balls and i'll use it only once every year, to make sure my water isn't F***ed up. Then you have to buy the tip, I forgot the name... Should I invest to replace the test strip/soil test?

Minoo, I like to use the pen for the daily checks and then on my weekly maintenance I check with both pen and a ph drop kit, like the one from GH.

Pen is faster for daily stuff and the weekly lets me check on my pen calibration and keep my eye sharp on the drops.

Oh and you can pick up pens for like $15 over at the river auction site

Yeah i forgot about the calibration also... What a hassle... Arf, I think i'll stick with the pH strips! I use well water, i tested pH once and I know that's enough xP
Thing is I didnt check when adding organic juices like nettle or comfrey. Big mistake, the nettle juice was of pH 9, and moreover i used it along with water that sat a bit, meaning its pH had gone up... I was mortified when i found that out. But now that I made the mistake, I know what to look out for

          thanks for the infos

        thanks for your answers!

Maybe Its my fault, I have not explaned the situation correctly.
I did a lot of research on PH. I know about Ph up and down and finnaly fixed all problems about it on my first grow. ( I had PH 8.0 and with lemon powder I lowered it on 6.5)

I have PH test drops which i found very usefull. The only quastion I had was If it is normal to use lemon powder or vinager from the seedlings.

Well, like I said i think in low quantity, diluted in water, it should be fine for the seedling.

Zaxar, as long as you get your water pH'd right, I don't think it matters what you use. I think one can kill a seedling quite quickly if the pH is off...

And yes, as others said above (not naming any names), all the pH up and down and meters, calibrating solution, etc., etc. is expensive!! I keep saying, This ain't no cheap hobby!!!
