I went to water last night and found my main trunk split down the middle? I'm like WTF, don't know how or how long figure I would have noticed.
so heres the deal...... 10 weeks in veg, 5th week of flower, it was a clone (my first) topped at the third nob, LST to a star shape, defoliation, top all again, then to the flowing tent.
super bummed, but I have high hopes that this wouldn't stop her. I'm go to update this thread till death do us part to document the resiliency or effect of such a traumatic blow to the plant at this stage.
buy the ticket, take the ride.

Howdy Mr.furly, Sorry to hear or the bad luck! Get out some duct tape, wrap it up, add some plant supports, and hope for the best. I accidentally broke a main stem three weeks before harvest on one plant. I wrapped it with some duct tape and part of a popsicicle stick (sort of a splint), and add a yo-yo to hold it up. The break healed up and we had a happy ending (in fact, I'm enjoying 'her' now!).

It has happened to me many times before. Get some cotton string and tie it around to support the weight and to stop from braking more. Then dilute anything antibacterial (alcohol or h2o2) and spray in the wound to keep free of bacteria. In a couple of weeks you can untie :)
 
Such a lovely plant Mr. Furley...she looks like she'll get though this with your kind support! Keep the pressure to spread more in check...and enjoy the show of resilience! 🐸
 
Just a quick update, immediately upon discovering the break my go mode reacted by
1) untied all LST from the two branches
2) put clone x on the break
3) put support stakes under said beams this helped to close the gap
4 )drum roll pls. Christmas printed duct tape.
right or wrong this was the chosen path In the Heat of the Moment.

My biggest concern right now is unnecessary movement or added stress. My gut feeling is to rest the plant for a week watching close the growth and/or lack of.

Sounds like you did an excellent job Dr.Furley, lots better than the surgeon's that live in my state. Good luck with it.

This happened to me once and I taped it and it continued growing. But, when I went to remove the tape a couple of weeks later, it was healed but still a little weak at the split so I ended up leaving the tape until harvest. First picture shows the break and the second shows harvest day

Hey Tazard,
thanks for the response here is a pic of "heart" @ her first topping around 4/10. The nub has since shriveled-up. It's is good Sound Advice to leave a nub and never try to clip to close.
I'm suspecting that one extar pull on the tie downs about a week and a half ago is the reason for the break, "I'll just pull these two down, they are really stretching". But I can say for sure.

I've had trunks split on outdoor grows after some nasty weather and just supported the main branches until she healed-no worries.
 
Mr furley I know you'll be fine if I had a nug for every branch I've snapped id have a pound by now lol I've taped,tied,splinted,wrapped they all work.I've had animals snap whole branches leaving just threads holding it on and it still survived so no worries as long as there is some connective tissue . I think one of my girls has four of five taped spots ,My current grow is gorilla glue very woody and does not bend very well,so Im always saying WTF more tape please lol

Week 6 of flowering, Time to update.
It has been about a week since I discovered the break and "heart" is showing nothing but resiliency, this girl just what's to grow! After the mend job I have done NOTHING different. Water, nutes, lights on/off, rotate 1/4 turn daily.
