    HELP! Temperature and humidity problems

Hello all,,, im growing in my closet and i live in a warm country the temperature indoors is 32c/89f and humidity is about 55-65 i have both an AC window in my room and an exhaust fan installed in my closet my problem is when the AC is on the temperature is 22c-25c which is great but the humidity drops down like helllll it becomes 30-40 i know its bad couz im starting from seeds so im thinking to add a humidifier small one

But im concern that if i bought this wont the exhaust fan take out all the steam comes from it?? Any ideas any solutions tell me im new and i got everything to grow,, coco nutrients cfl heat mat dome rapid rooter....

    Thx

Hi, 30/40 humidity isn't too bad. It's not excellent yes... But maybe a combination of ac and humidifier isn't the best solution either. I grow outdoor so I'm not 100% sure.

Hi Rayan, as Minoo suggests 30-40% humidity is doable, indeed it's ideal in later flowering.
I have similar conditions for my grow tent, I just hang up a wet towel or put water in a bowl in the tent to raise humidity. You could also spritz water onto your plants to add some local humidity.
You're exactly right that your exhaust fan will likely end up working against any humidifier you install.

I've found that temperature has more of an impact than humidity so I think you're exactly right -- keep that AC on
If you can get your humidity to 40-50% for the first 3-4 weeks of veg, you can run the rest of your grow at 30% humidity no problems.
They say that getting humidity down to the 30s and below increases resin production in late flower.

I struggle with temps out here in Southern California. I try to keep my tent to a max of 90F/32C but I'm using LEDs which people think allow for higher temps (check out the Black Dog LED site for an interesting experiment on this). I used to grow with CFLs and for me I'd try to keep a CFL grow down to a max of 85F/30C. Because CFLs need to be closer to the canopy I suspect they transfer more heat directly to the leaves.
Ultimately it's all about the leaf/canopy temps, one of these days I'm going to get one of those fancy infrared spot temp meters.

As a final note, watering more often will help raise humidity and give the plants more ability to handle heat. You gotta be really careful with this though because over watering is very easy (and will do more damage than low humidity).

I thought of led and other types of lights but my closet ia really small so the best for me is cfl and i can put like 12 bulbs or so but its really hard to keep humidity at 50 i just tried to put a wet towel and turned my AC back on so lets see,,, i was struggling with germinating because i have like a 100 old seeds gifted to me from a friend i tried paper towel and water cup method nothing happened but now i placed them in a water cup for like 18 hrs then into the dome with the heat mat the results are amaaaaazing 90% have sprouted,, i placed two seeds in a small cups filled with coco and perlite yesterday under two cfl bulbs and hooooooopefully i will see some greeeeeen tomorrow or after tomorrow,,, before when i water my coco i stick my finger after a couple of days its dry but when i go deep its wet i don't know why so i pinched holes at the side hope this will solve it

Im realy excited couz i have a lot of seeds and not sure which is female or male

Hey Rayan, NOTHING works for me like a germination pad at the right temperature!! Sometimes the seeds sprout in way less than 24 hrs!!

          The fun will start when you switch to flower and have to get rid of the males!! ;-}

I have the same problem now in seedling stage. I'm at 40 humidity and run a humidifier to get it into the 50's. There is no doubt I'm wasting power and water because the exhaust is sucking a lot of it right out. But it does help get the humidity up to the 50's in veg and I have to fill it daily. Also, should clean it with vinegar and water every couple of days. If you decide to add a humidifier, buy a "cool mist" one if you have heat problems in your space. Many humidifiers produce heat. Unfortunately, I have a bigger problem come flower time. As the Summer progresses, the humidity goes up and I'm hitting flower. Worst grow timing for heat and humidity but I have no choice. I will blast a dehumidifier to barely keep the humidity under 60 in mid to late flower. I know it's better lower in flower and it's real close to the line for mold. I did harvest a great crop last fall and never had mold so it can be done but it's a bit scary on real humid days. Crank the exhaust, lollipop, defoliate, move the air with fans etc. Good luck!

Sheesh I tried a couple of small dehumidifiers and they didn't do shit, so I broke down and bought a 50-pint one. I keep it in the doorway so it blows hot air out into the hall, and it kicks ass during flower.

I bought a big one too alltatup. It's either 50 or 70 pint and it works well but I have no way of moving the hot air out of the room. I have a 4X4 tent in a walk up attic and I haven't figured out a way to direct the dehumidifier hot air out. The tent exhaust goes through the ceiling into the space between the ceiling and roof. The roof has a ridge vent so the hot air makes it out of the house completely. Just not sure if there is a way to do the same with the dehumidifier hot air.

Attics are tough because hot air rises, as you know! I use my spare bedroom as my grow room and I have 2 stealth grow boxes, so completely different setup...

Rayan Two suggestions: keep the entire rapid rooter moist--not soaking. They look too dry. You want those roots to come out looking for water.

As soon as they pop up, put them under some light. Hopefully, they are right side up, and the seedling will grow towars the light.

Oh, ok, cool. Well, they are trying to emerge. What I do is as soon as I see something emerging, I put them under lights so they won't turn yellow or stretch looking for light. You could wait and see what happens over next 24-36 hours...

Just exactly how deep in the RRs did you put the seeds?

If you take a close look and see that the plant's growing in the right direction, maybe in a day or two try a drop of water on the seed shell to get it to come off easier. You just wanna make sure the taproot is pointed down.
