Switching to more light in late bloom

Has anyone tried to go back to an 18/4 or 24/0 light cycle in the final weeks?
It sounds like it might make buds fatter having more light time and I don't think they can hermie that late in the life cycle.
Has anyone had any experience with extra light this late?

I'm new and only have one semi successful grow under my belt. I left a single bulb on for 24hrs late in bloom and I think that is what hermied my plant. Thousands of tiny little white seeds. But that's just my thoughts on it.

My last grow the timer somehow switched to 24 hours on just at harvest time. All of a sudden there were new leaves growing out of the tops of the buds. I harvested as soon as I could after that to avoid hermies. I think switching back to >12 hours light would stop bud growth and start promoting leaf and stem growth again.

Has anyone experimented with Increasing Darkness in the last week of flower....like 10 hrs light/ 14 hours dark.

Did help fatten up the buds?

Heres what I've heard and experienced. I am right now doing 13 dark because its so hot and the first hour of lights on my temps were really spiking (running on at night also). Everything seems fine with the extra hour dark, I have read that extra dark will speed finishing, I cant really tell if that's true yet. I have heard of people switching back to grow or veg light types near the end to get a last push like if you have LED's go back to the veg frequency or if running HPS go back to the metal halide bulbs at the end. I've never tried that but I'm thinking about it. If anyone has I would love to hear about it. I suspect this is a potency thing like adding UVB at the end?

I read up on my cmh lamp and it puts out UVB light other growers have told me that the added UVB light because of its very harmful effects to humans and plants that it makes buds produce more as it try to protect itself from the UVB. I have no idea if this is true it's just what I have read and heard from other ppl
        It's 4:19 u got a minute?

I heard the same about UVB. If you switch back to MH during flowering for the UVB...You have to remove the glass (if present) from the lamp enclosure. Glass blocks UVB.

Ya that was the reasoning in what I read too, that the plant tries to protect itself with more trichromes and thc bc the fluid absorbs or diffracts the UVB light. I should do a trial with identical plants sometime and then test the percentages of everything.
