Planned downtime on Friday, July 20, 2018

Hello Forum Members,

We love all the awesome pictures that you have been uploading, but we started running out of space to hold them all. In order to increase our storage space, this Friday the growing community will be down all day for planned upgrades and backups. We should be up and running again for the weekend!

Happy growing,

Thanks for your fine company and thoroughly invigorating encouragement folks! And yes #4 has started. The burp is on but boy it has taken a while to stabilize the jar humidity!
The #3 journal (PDF) is not up yet (I know powers that be are really busy!) but it will get to the shared completed journals sometime should you be interested.
Here is the finish and a shot of the veg now 35 days into it.
    Love you guys & girls

Thank you! Each trip around the track is different! I admit to being very pleased having returned to GH nutrients...better yield of viable hugs
And...got one outside now since I vegged 9 and only have space for 8. Hubby yielded on saving the plant. I don't have any expectations for her tho- pretty sure she'll get bugs or mold or both but a fun experiment
I always enjoy your company intergalactic_harvester - thanks for sticking around

I checked my junk box. All I found was some rusty old nails and a shoe string. Bummer!

      Hi Tika,
Really liked your journal! You mentioned defoliating leaves with purple stems. Could you please elaborate on that?
      Thanks!

      Thanks Paracelsus!
Aren't we lucky to have all these great tutorials?

I had read the one you linked, a while ago and it was certainly worth re-reading. They all are!

What I was looking for from Tika's method was more to do with defoliating. She mentioned she starts with the light blockers...which is the whole point of defoliating, right? But she also said she was removing leaves with purple stems. If I understood it correctly. I was wondering what was the reason for defoliating leaves with purple stems. It didn't sound like, at that point, her plant was suffering from any problems.

Your right I reread them when I answer other peoples questions, It helps me learn lets ask Tika

Ha!Defoliation ..A subject most controversial. Equally I change my Defoliation process frequently. Watched a video of the "purple stem " process at some time and that's where I got that idea. I understood it to be a hardening off of the fan stem and therefore not as useful. May or may not be the case.
Whether I do 2 major Defoliations or not my "echos" are from Green75 ( who is a master at Defoliation and way more extreme than I)
take one-leave the other but he gets around to most of them.
Royal Nuggs no longer around...Pluck a few each day.
From Nebula to remember that the fans ARE important to the plant for making food/photosynthesis
      Remove older lower fans
Leave at least two big ones on the top of the collas
And yes I think my base is to
Remove inner congestion of leaves for air circulation and remove leaves that lay upon each other creating moisture.
and to expose your bud sites.
All mean having your plant up in front of you and view from the top of the plant.

Finally- don't think there is one way. As one bonds with their plants with a few basics in the mind....The plant tells you especially in flower.
      Bud sites need light.
      Love you guys

        Thanks Tika! Very interesting...and varied.

what do you think about removing yellow leaves? I know older ones will fall off on their own. I am more interested in leaves that get damaged due to over watering...My mistake...or nute problems, etc. I do this as a matter of course with my vegetable plants as they say it is a waste of plant energy to leave them.

I have two yellow first fan leaves on my plant now from early over watering. They are so low down that removing them isn't going to open the bud site all that much due to the healthy leaves above. I know it isn't the end of the world to keep or remove just these two leaves, but I am interested in the theory of wasted energy vs. cannabis plants that don't like even light hair cuts.

Do yellow or sickly looking leaves photosynthesize?

Also, thanks for putting your journal into the PDF. It made for much easier reading. I plan to check out your others soon. Please keep doing them...I learned about several interesting elements that the tutorials can't provide the way a journal can!

        Thanks again!

Hey Spanky Just did a read up on photosynthesis: attaching links to the subject and since neither article mentions the Lamina - leaf blade I am also attempting g to photo 2 pages from my mother's text book Textbook of General Botany published in...1934.
The short answer is that brown leaves haven't much coprophilia at all = useless and pluck them. The Lamina of the leaf has to be green to turn light & air and water into food. If your plants are done with over watering they should be making new leaves while the other ones get bigger.
I am delighted you find the journals useful. Nebula was / is the Queen of PDF for me. I had to Dropbox them to her as they were huge files, she flipped them for me. I used to do the PFD processbut still haven't become self reliant again. So be sure to thank her🤗 I too like hard copy, to print, note on, etc. Journaling as you know is very ti e consuming espif one rambles on as I do. So I have skipped a few grows as also...I do the same thing over and over. Once I get this veg into flower I will embark on my new challenge ( posted in my thread Tika'sGarden of Earthly Delights) the other day where I am a tester for a new seed co. I will be receiving REGULAR seeds and will have to sex them ( only done regular once-always get feminized) so that may...Or may not..Be useful to someone and will be a totally new germination process ( and a screaming pain in theass) til sexed to get 8 viable females.

Also I do believe cannabis INDOOR grown benefit from defoliation, topping, lollipopping,
And LST. When I top plants I get anxious but their response is to argue it and return two collase after you took one.
Green75 : he does everything to an auto that people say you can't do , he does it consciously, gets gorgeous plants and a much bigger yield. He is a master at whacking the shit out of plant I personally don't have the skills for that starting g with manifolding or mainlining.
