    29/3/2017 Day 4

Temps since I set up the tent have been between 22-26C (71.6-78.8F) and 40-68% RH

3 of the 4 seedlings are already onto the start of their first multi finger leaves with their first single finger leaves stretched straight out & loving life so I gave them all a bit of nutes. If the small, late to sprout one can't keep up that's fine, I only wanted to grow out 3 to harvest anyway. So far they've just had pH adjusted tap water which obviously has some amount of minerals in it.

Today I started with distilled water, less chance of burning than with the added stuff in tap water. Once they're onto week 2 I'll go back to tap water when they're not quite as sensitive. Gave them 1/4 the seedling strength from the GH DTW feed chart

    2L distilled water
    added 2.6ml CALiMAGic
    stir
    0.26ml Micro
    stir
    0.13ml Gro
    stir
    0.13ml Bloom
    stir
    0.32ml Diamond Nectar
    Stir
    Check pH
    add 1 drop pH down,
    stir
    check
let sit for 10 minutes & check again

gave them all 200ml nute mix each, in circles around the seedling but not right up to the stem

Indeed they are. If you did not get lite version they can heat up...or be cold. You will find your way with it and I am celebrating your improvements

Got the good gorilla, don't see the point getting a gorilla if it's a lite version. Tent is on concrete floor in garage, if cold becomes a problem I'll put a rug or something under tent or lift pots off ground. I'll see how I go. Should be fine though, I can adapt and overcome

AND..as time went I have little velcro leak at the bottom where zipper joins. I highly recommend Gorilla tape (unrelated)..I use it for everything.
cut and paste for any leak.
        Delighted for you

      30/3/2017 Day 5

Temps have been between 24.9C-27.4C (76.82F-81.32F)
      28-31% RH.
*Might need to do something to address RH

All 4 babies look healthy and showing no signs of disagreeing with a little feed yesterday, even the smallest one.

Checked yesterdays leftover nute mix, pH was still good so gave them 300ml each to finish off the 2L I made up yesterday. Tomorrow they will just get plain pH adjusted tap water since I haven't watered to runoff and then I'll mix up some 50% nutes for the day after.

Does it matter where the towel is hung?
I've filled all my floor space with buckets & jars full of water, have hung a towel from the top bars down as low as it can go without blocking any light and barely made a difference.
Maybe I'm exhausting air too well and the moisture can't build up in the air???

Yeah my fan dries my tent out too. I hang the wet towel on a folded tomato frame in my tent. I'm hoping I can create a more humid and then less humid end of my tent...

Interesting. I'll have to try the towel trick. My RH wants to stay about 39% most of the time. I added a humidifier but it increased the temp too much.

      31/3/2017 Day 6

      Temps 24.6-27.3C (76.28-81.14F)

      RH 31-34%

Each pot got 2.5L of pH6 tap water today until a tiny bit of runoff came out the bottom.
Because I put so much water in to avoid nute buildup from two consecutive feeds without runoff I watered no closer than 2" to the seedling.

So far no attempt to raise humidity is working. Buckets & jars of water fill every empty spot on the tent floor & I've hung a wet towel from the roof as low as possible without blocking any light. Will see how it goes after giving the pots a nice watering, might try adding a second towel but if that doesn't work then that will have to do. Not going to worry about a humidifier.

        1/4/2017 Day 7

        Temps 24-26.6C (75.2-79.88F)

        RH 30-32%

I'm not having a good camera day today, can't seem to get some good photos no matter what lighting/settings I try out. Here's one of each of the babies & I'll try get some better ones later today or tomorrow as they're a lot nicer shade of green than they look in these photos.

The biggest 3 have started on their third set of real leaves. Single blade ones, they've got 3 blades on the next and the tips are showing for the third set. 4th obaby is still behind and was growing at an angle. Straightened the stem a bit and waiting for the leaves to turn back up again.

        Light is currently @ 50cm

made up 1gal of 50% nute mix

        1gal tap water
        5ml CALiMAGic
        1ml Micro
        0.5ml Gro
        0.5ml Bloom
        1.25ml Diamond Nectar
        4 drops pH down

that gave me a pH of 5.9.

I split the gal between the 4 pots & got 500ml of runoff/13%. I just collected it all in one jug & the combined pH (too lazy to do it seperately) came out at 6.4 so next watering will go in at 5.5pH

Terpinator finally arrived in Australia recently.
So far I've only seen 1L bottles for $85 (USD$65).

Since I've already bought bottles of Armor Si, DiamondNectar & Liquid KoolBloom I think I might just stick with that for this grow as well as the usual trio +calmag then try out the terpinator next grow with the THC Bomb. Price might have come down a little by then or maybe bigger more cost effective bottles might be available.

Here's a few more pics of my tent & ventilation system.
My fan is hidden inside the tent in the insulated ducting attached directly to the solid silencer.
The air vents over the top of the tent and behind the boxes on top of the cupboard next to it towards a window hidden behind a quilt cover. The tent is in a garage so none of the ducting can be seen from outside when the door opens with the stuff on top of the tent & cupboard hiding it.
he carbon filter will attach onto the ducting inside the tent in flower and everything hanging in the tent is hanging from 1/2" heavy duty bungee cords.
The light ratchets also hang off the bungees. I couldn't figure out how else to hang the light centrally with all the stuff hanging above blocking most of the poles.

All works great so far and is nice & quiet. Fan controller rarely turns fan up above minimum speed but when it does it quickly gets rid of the unwanted heat and drops speed again when tent is cool. Great investment.

While I was taking these photos I lowered the light down to 45cm from top of smallest baby. Will try to keep it at that height throughout the rest of the grow

We have opposite set ups. My tent vents on the top hole and intakes through the side hole; the one on the bottom not the one on top like yours. I have my light air intake there as per design. There is a through and though hole from one side to the other ment for an air cooled light. Interesting modification though. And cool if it meets your climate needs.

cool climate & don't grow over summer so I don't think I'll run into any problems with heat. I was just venting out the side of the tent with no ducting but the hot air going out the side that air was coming in wasn't really a good idea so I switched it up. Main thing is it works & doesn't look suspicious when the garage door opens.

            2/4/2017 Day 8

            Things to address:
*Measured runoff yesterday & it was pH 6.4

            Temps 22.5-27.4C (72.5-81.32F)
            26-30% RH

Mixed up 1.5gal 1/2 strength seedling mix @ pH 5.5 to address high pH runoff yesterday and divided between 4 plants

800ml runoff between the plants with a combined average pH of 6.0

Seedlings are going well being watered to runoff daily despite being in a 100% coco medium, no perlite & in black plastic pots, not smart pots.

tiniest bit of nute burn on the tips of one seedling on one set of leaves only, could probably go to 60% strength but I'll just continue at 50% for now.
Tuesday marks 7 days on nutes so Wednesday will move onto week 2 schedule for early veg @ 50% to begin with and go from there.

            Better pics coming shortly

The girls dont have any names, they're just numbered 1-4 in order of when they sprouted.

Nutrifield is the brand. I buy their 5Kg Coco Mega Bricks. It's pre rinsed, buffered and apparently has minimal salts.
                      http://www.nutrifield.com.au/coco-mega-brick.html

Just had a quick look at their website and they're apparently Australian so that might be why you haven't heard of them. Supposed to sell internationally though. They have a range of mediums & nutes. Pretty sure the brick said it was Made in India though lol.

No perlite just because I like to be different. I've read about coco and lots of sources talk about the excellent moisture retaining of coco as well as plenty of oxygen still in the medium even when soaked (As long as it's good quality & not too fine). Got me to thinking, maybe they don't need the extra oxygen and drainage from the perlite, so I used 100% coco last grow and it went pretty well so I decided to do the same thing this time.

By colour having to do with too much moisture are you referring to my girls and my photo colour problem or the darkness of the medium?

The girls are a nice green colour, I just can't get the true colour to show in the photos. I've fiddled with a few different settings, had them under fluro lights in the garage, incandescent in the laundry, low/medium levels of sunlight & direct sunlight but still can't seem to get a colour true photo yet. Not a big deal just a little frustrating.

If you were referring to the medium I had just watered to runoff right before I took these photos then put them back in the tent. Might be a bit soon for such small babies but no drooping and they're growing nicely so I'll just continue on with things they way they are for now. Was hoping extra water from evaporation might raise RH slightly but it's seemed to do the opposite somehow, I had more RH when I watered less. Go figure lol. Always keeping an eye on their reactions to water/nutes/light height so I can take action if I think it's necessary.
