    Flower: MarsHydro 300w

After reading this post: http://forum.growweedeasy.com/forum/...ion-techniques and this article, again: http://www.growweedeasy.com/marijuan...ation-tutorial _

I decided I had "nothing at stake" with the clone I had on hand in a NC-1 container (less than a gallon) in a veg tent, 150w UFO LED (more blue)-@ 69f-73f and 43%-49% humidity.

Disclaimer- I have never defoliated to this extreme before and not sure I am doing this correctly- So feel free to offer suggestions/opinions on the "AFTER" photos.

Background- I had a Tahoe OG Kush (TOK) in the flower tent @12/12 -where I evened out the canopy by taking cutting the 3 tallest branches.
The TOK flowered the very next day and so did the clones I took- which went under 20/4 lights in a space bucket. It is one of these clones I have donated to this technique.

Today I took the healthiest clone 8 1/2" tall, healthy leaves and structure and began chopping off the leaves.
I started removing the large fan leaves and then removed only one fan leaf from each bud site- leaving one to grow out a bit.
    TOK-Donor PlantbeforeAFTERbeforeAFTER

I will post when there is significant changes.
    Any guidance?

Wow, if that works I will have no fear of over stripping.

Unlike stripping or lollipopping - no bud sites are ever removed, as I understand it.

Now bend that plant over and tie her down....

And then again. And again. And again

WeedPharma, I'm a new grower but seem to be learning quickly. I already feel confident enough to answer some other newbies questions. Looking at your final picture, I don't see how that structure will be able to support multiple buds. I get the whole idea behind building a manifold, but you only have one main stem. Please keep us updated with pictures so you can make me a believer.

Basically, it helps to break apical dominance, creates a bunch of colas, causes a general increase in budsite formation, and helps to increase the density of the budsites per cola, making better use of what's available with indoor lighting. I think the difference may be that the continued defoliation through veg and flower increase the airflow and light getting to the lower budsites, making them form more viable bud, instead of wispy larf. If you manifold from seed, and do "general" defoliating, you're pretty much doing this already.
Here's a quote from one of the guys that dove in head first...
re as i think i have proven this technique.
"i just weighed last weeks plant and it only went 15.80. i guess i screwed up somewhere. (ED:This is sarcasm directed at the naysayers in the original thread)
so my last five consecutive defoliated plants went 11.96, 12.35, 14.74, 18.38, and 15.80 for a total of 73.23 or an average of 14.65 each.
my last 5 plants before defoliation averaged 10.49, or 52.45 total oz's.
a total difference of 20.78 or 4.16 zips per plant.
i have been doing a series of changes over the last year to drive up yield and this one, defoliating, has made the largest difference.
at this point i'll stop posting pics and weight here as i think i have proven this technique.

          thanks k33ftr33z!" Delta9NXS

I just put clones into pots today, so I think I'm going to try making a squatty Blue Dream using these techniques, once they settle in.
Some great yields! I'd like to see how the next grow goes for you!

Hahaha, I don't ever want a haircut from you!! Very interesting as I've read many articles on defloration pro/con especially about how many leaves are needed to continue photosynthesis.
Definitely want to see how you progress!!

does anyone pull strings off the stems when pulling leaves off? I keep doing that, probably every time I defoliate!

What carlsoti said. Don't try to pull the leaves off. Either pinch or cut leave stem.

That's what I'm trying to do, but now and then I pull strings!

UPDATE- regular scheduled transplant today to 2 gal container- plant does not seem to have lost any ground with the defoliation 10 days ago.
I will be looking at more defoliation in about 4 days- which follows the every 2 weeks recommendation.

2 week UPDATE- plant grew into the CFL I had for heat and burnt part of the top fan leaf- otherwise uneventful-I gave a supplemental feeding with foliage pro 3 days ago.
Defoliated by taking the largest fan leaves first- then one from each bud site and any leaf that was more than 2 weeks old-
It is getting close to the height, I need to put in flower tent- stalk is still flexible enough for the type of LST I use with tomato cages.
