    ES300 vs HLG 300 R-Spec experiment

I've been following along with Nebula's defoliation experiment and was intrigued by the potential for a ES300 vs HLG 300 R-Spec experiment.

I'd love to see a third tent where you start with the ESG300 for vegetative growth and then switch to the HLG 300 R-Spec for flowering.

I just watched a video from Dr. Bruce Bugbee which noted how more blue spectrum light will grow shorter, bushier plants while as Nebula observed, red spectrum light will cause plants to stretch as though they were in the shade.

I'd hypothesize that the tent with ES300 for veg and HLG300 R-Spec for flower would produce plants that are shorter and bushier than the tent using only the HLG300 R-Spec and would produce higher quality flower than the tent using only the ES300.

Might be able to get the best of both worlds!

    Welcome, HIPHI
I've been watching a small commercial grow in Michigan that uses a vertical grow on rockwool blocks lit with an array of targeted wavelength diodes that are independently controlled.
He has racks about 3' x 12' x 7' tall that allows him to make two levels on each rack about 30" tall with the light panels.
The spectrum you create helps with crop steering, so if you'd like to change the physical structure, spectrum may help with that.
When I built my fixtures 5 years ago, I added 660nm deep reds that contribute an additional 10% power during the flower stage or if I want to encourage elongationtion.

      Very cool. Thanks.

      Is 660 nm considered "far-red"?

Is that the same as "deep-red" as you mention?

Just starting to learn about the spectrum.
