Any one emigrating to Canada? We should be "legal" this spring and the Canadian government even has a 1000+page report out!

That sounds so wonderful. I teach Spanish, have spent time in various Spanish-speaking countries, and have always noticed that when you show respect for the home culture (i.e., in my country's case, you aren't an "ugly American"), they open everything to you. Brahma Coulibaly: what a great name!!!! I wonder if westerners will continue to have any kind of access to the real culture in that way in the future...

Spent a few days in a small village ne of Bamako, bus ride followed by donkey cart ride kinda isolated, we were told to bring cola nuts for the elders which prompted them to give us Malian names. Brahma Coulibaly is yours truely. The following night the old hunters of the village demonstrated their hunt dance along with balafon and djembe!!! What a treat man. We had hooked up with peace corps people so we were granted access to a lot of people and places. And the singing coming from minarets before dawn... man I miss it! Ain't going back for a while though, too unstable now.

I somehow ended up being hired by this guy who wanted to show the effect of globalization on third countries by interviewing locals on the route of the Paris Dakar rally. The race brings a lot of quick cash and destruction. He needed a French translator(that's my homeland), French being the "official" language there. 3 weeks I'll never forget, we met incredible people all over southern Mali.

Ah, habib koite, now you're talking! I almost saw him in Bamako in 2003, but no one I was with knew where the club was!!

Not sure if that qualifies but I saw cut chemist and dj shadow last year(?). They got their hands on Africa Bambaataa's vinyl collection he had donated to a university. That my friend was a hell of a mashup! They took us on musical history lesson, incredible!

Hmmmm, not sure how to answer that. I like old samples incorporated into new tracks, but I guess I'd say I'm a purist?? No one can do it better than Wu Tang, or whoever did it first. I can't think of a single example of the contrary. Here: I love me some of this:

They won't list the price online; you have to contact them.
