    Grow #1: Cookies Kush by Barney's Farm | 315W CMH | DWC

Hi everyone. I thought it would help keep me on track if I create a log for my first grow. I'm at a point where I have some seedlings under 24 hours of light. As you can see from the pictures they started having some troubles but I think/hope I'm at a point where I've resolved the issue(s) (based on new growth).

Trying to follow the DWC and 315W CMH guides available here. Please see the About section of my profile for complete details.

Following the nutrient schedule here: https://www.growweedeasy.com/wp-cont...t-schedule.pdf

Initially I didn't realize they needed nutrients in that first week so they unfortunately went a few days without nutrients. Now I'm trying to stick to above.

That is probably the reason for the issues you had. Get the nutrients right and you will do fine.

I definitely think that's part of it. Unfortunately they also experienced more than recommended temp and RH fluctuations during "night" time (so I switched to 24 hours light) and I had my PH too low (5.8). Basically a lot of beginner mistakes, but they're hanging on and I'm learning more every day!

My temp and RH still isn't ideal but it's much closer to desirable range. Making little adjustments to exhaust fan and positioning of humidifier and fans to see if I can find that sweet spot. 26.1C and 61 RH right now.

Oh I’m so excited for you! This is my ideal setup minus the overpriced nutrients. I highly recommend the 4-20 mix from hydrogardens, along with their cal nitrate and mag sulfate.

Appreciate the enthusiasm and nutrient tip. Will need to research how i get that (or something similar) here in Canada.

Gave these girls their first hair cut (to get rid of dead leaves). I think they're beautiful. 😊

    Notes
Had to put a couple frozen water bottles inside reservoirs to assist with cooling. R1 temp went as high as 22.4C

The new leaves coming in also look greener which is good. It's funny when you click and enlarge the pics they are greener in the large picture. Maybe I'm just high though.

Keep learning and having fun you'll do great.

Double check for bugs with a jeweler's loop or micro scope made for your phone. I grow in soil but check with others as you may want to lower the ph some for your setup. The plants take up nutrients based on certain ph levels. Also make sure your using enough cal/mag. You can also try lowering the ppm a bit and see what happens.

One of my healthier plants in reservoir 2 starting to droop but colour is looking better. All plants in reservoir 1 look ok.

Changed ratio of nutrients to include more micro and gro because plants were starting to show red stems and 1 plant in particular looked very pale.

Date: Mar 1, 2019 AM (so happy February is over)

              Reservoir 1
              ph: 6.34
              ppm: 825

              Reservoir 2

              Tent
              temp: 25.9C
              rh: 54%

Trying to resist the urge to adjust ph back down!

The new growth is looking much better. And they are starting to grow fast as they should. You will be ok. All your notes will make the next time so much easier.

Nice journal, oc! I'd love to see pics of roots too. Have you tried the free sample of MegaCrop nutrients? I had really good results in DWC under CMH, and never had to adjust my pH.

Hey DingusKhan Mega Crop promo arrived in the mail today! Planning to use instead of GH for next grow.

As a tip for anyone who finds this thread and trying to buy from Canada: Greenleaf Nutrients sells their product to Canadians via Fulfillment by Amazon. Cost about 40% less to ship vs. buying from their site.

Haven't opened the bag yet. Thinking I will use it for the Blackberry Auto and Cream Cookies Auto, both by FastBuds, on the way in the mail.

I know alot use those nutrients. D.A.A.S.69 i think used them but he only drops by the site everyonce in awhile. But maybe make a new post asking specifically about those nutrients.

                      They're really taking off. ✈ 😍

                      Date: Mar 5, 2019

                      Reservoir 1
                      ph: 6.00
                      ppm: 1252
                      temp: 22.1

                      Reservoir 2
                      ph: 6.06
                      ppm: 1241
                      temp: 21.5

                      Tent
                      temp: 25.6
                      rh: 61%

                      Adjustments
                      • Added cold low ph 3-2-1 nutrient water until water level met bottom of net cups (both reservoirs)
                      • Switched R1-2 from hole 3 to hole 2
                      • Moved lights about 5-6" higher over past two days. 1-2" at a time based on growth/limen readings
                      Notes
All plants in reservoir 2 looking really good. Really happy with results so far.

Both plants in reservoir 1 showing brown spots and a couple fan leaves are pretty hurting at this point. I think the really mangled lower leaves are from ph adjustment mistakes early on. Not sure why the larger leaf on higher node getting the same though.

Too worried about damage to roots to look or take pics! 🤓

                        Adjustments
                        • Fresh water and nutes in reservoir 1

                        • Moved light much closer after I realized I'm having ph problems instead of light burn
                        Notes
                        • Broke the main branch of one of my nicer plants while doing LST. I was devastated. Duct taped her and seeing if she will pull through.
                        • Reservoir got too hot over past couple days because I've had some personal stuff to deal with/no time to swap out cold bottles.
                        • Need to find time to swap water in reservoir 2
