    Manifold node topping question

What is considered the first node? Is the cotyledons the first node, or the next one with single leaves or the third one with 3 leaves? I started some Haze #1 seedlings and one of them has tiny growth tips from the single leaves node but the node up (the first 3 leaf node) has bigger tips already growing. The next node up has 3 finger leaves but the last one up that just finished has 5 leaves.

So which node is the third node when I top?

The first node as I know it is the first set of real leaves. I let her grow up to 4 sets of real leaves cut off the 4th when I have enough stem to get my snips in there.
    It's 4:19 u got a minute?

Regardless of where you top this, make certain you leave 1/4 inch above the last node so the stem doesn't split from the weight of the manifold.
I let the plants health/vigor/growth spurt dictate when I top and use 3-4-5th node for Manifold.

I currently have 3 auto's I topped at the 6th node- but that is all I am doing with these plants. see 10/22/17 note: https://forum.growweedeasy.com/forum...t-2-tent/page2

Some top the 4th, some the 5th and so on. I had this question myself and after some research found that the cotyledons are not to consider as the first set of leaves, the serrated ones are.

The cotleydon is not a node, node one is the first set of serrated leaves

            Thank you.
My second grow I’m doing a pair of haze #1 and since one is 10 days older than the other so I decided to do the older one nugbuckets way and the youngest one nebula.

They look like two different strains. I just topped the oldest for the second time and first top for the younger. The older is growing flat I haven’t had to bond it yet and the younger it’s growth tips are pointed up and I’ll have to bond them even before the young old one. The older had 3 fan leaves for the 3rd node and the younger 5 and on the young the leaves are bigger and the stems purple. The older one also got some nute burn on the 3rd node fan leaves which concerned me since I’m doing kindsoil.

Can I use the cutoff portion as a clone? Set it in some water and see if it grows?

              Thanks,

hey mad tit is my understanding witch can and is wrong at times lol that you can clone Autos but the clone is the same age as the mother ,so it will go into bloom at the same time. that could be cool a plant with one cola hmm

If you have enough growth on the cuttings then it's a perfect use for cloning. Unless you are aerating the solution the shoot may not be able to get some roots going.
