are parts per thousand bigger than ppm ?

i'm a noob to this stuff so please bear with me lol
can someone tell me why 1 part per thousand = 1000 parts per million

    Sure- 1,000 x 1,000 = 1,000,000 or 1 million
    if it's 1 part per thousand, then 1/1000 = x/1,000,000
    1,000,000 divided by 1,000 = 1,000
It's all bullshit - until you smoke it!

The basic weight measurement is 1 kilogram, so 1 thousands of a kg is 1 gram or 1 ppt and 1 millionth of a kg is 1 mg or 1 ppm.
1 ppm is the same as 1mg in 1 litre of liquid.
